Washington Examiner columnist Joe Concha blasted former President Barack Obama and late-night talk show host Stephen Colbert for praising New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
“Colbert says, ‘He names what’s wrong,’” Concha said Wednesday on Fox & Friends First. “Yeah, I guess Mamdani does that, but he doesn’t know how to fix what’s wrong. That’s a big, big problem.”

Colbert hosted Obama on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Tuesday. It took place in Chicago at the Obama Presidential Center, which will open in June.
Obama called Mamdani an “extraordinary talent.” Colbert and Obama agreed that Mamdani is able to “talk to regular people like we’re not in a college seminar.”
“He lives a normal life, but he also names what is obviously wrong,” Colbert said.
“The discussion never broached how the New York mayor promised a bunch of stuff he didn’t know how to pay for,” Concha said.
“Mamdani is all foam and no beer. It’s sizzle over steak.”
During Colbert’s segment with Obama, Colbert said, “A lot of people tell me I should run for president,” and they further discussed those remarks. Some of their conversation included what could be interpreted as thinly veiled criticisms of President Donald Trump.
“The bar has changed,” Obama said. “I think that you could perform significantly better than some folks that we’ve seen.”
Concha said Obama and Colbert think that speaking to one side, the side that agrees with them, is “democracy in action” and criticized any hypothetical presidential run by Colbert.
“He would have to leave his safe space, and he actually would have to make arguments without having 200 staffers do the thinking for him,” Concha said.
