ABC White House correspondent worries about Sean Spicer’s health

Jonathan Karl, White House correspondent for ABC News, said he worries that President Trump’s top spokesman Sean Spicer spends so much time in anger that he worries about his health.

In a new interview published Monday, Karl said Spicer is under immense pressure to perform.

“You’ve seen Sean Spicer in action from the podium,” Karl told Politico. “Sean’s pretty much— he is the way he is. At least in the sense he’s taken over. He’s tough. I worry a little about his health because he spends so much time angry at the podium and he’s often angry when he’s not at the podium. But he’s under enormous pressure. I don’t think anybody has had a harder job to do. Look at previous White House press secretaries. He’s got such a difficult job.”

Spicer has spent much of his initial time as White House press secretary combating the national media and defending his boss’ more controversial executive orders, such as the temporary hold on taking in Syrian refugees.

The White House did not return a request for comment from the Washington Examiner.

Spicer has also run into the issue of making a statement that is later contradicted by Trump or a using word — and wardrobe — choices that have reportedly upset his boss.

Last week when Spicer was asked about an ethics controversy regarding top White House official Kellyanne Conway, Spicer said she had been “counseled” on the issue.

It was reported that Trump privately expressed his displeasure with that word because it suggested Conway was in trouble.
