Former New York Gov. George Pataki to announce bid for president

The already-crowded Republican field for president is about to get a little bigger.

A press email was sent out on Tuesday morning by the We The People, Not Washington super PAC, alerting that former Gov. George Pataki (R-N.Y.) will “make an announcement” about a bid for the Republican nomination on May 28.

We The People, Not Washington was created in January 2015 for the purpose of launching Pataki’s presidential aspirations.

Pataki hasn’t run for political office in 13 years, the same length of time as frontrunner, Former Gov. Jeb Bush (R-Fla.).

Re-elected three times as Governor of New York, Pataki can make the claim that he has shown the most appeal to Democratic voters. According to Cook Political Index, New York is the fifth most Democratic state in the country.
