Republican lieutenant governor Bill Bolling of Virginia will not run as an independent for governor. ABC’s Rick Klein reports:
Bill Bolling not running for VA gov: “I wish Mr. McAuliffe and Mr. Cuccinelli well as they begin their campaigns…”
— Rick Klein (@rickklein) March 12, 2013
Bolling was said to be considering an independent run after Republican attorney general Ken Cuccinelli announced he would run governor, after which Bolling exited the Republican primary. A Bolling candidacy would have shaken up the 2013 governor’s race in Virginia, which will now likely be a match-up between Cuccinelli and Democrat Terry McAuliffe.
