President Trump veered off script Tuesday night during his keynote address at the Susan B. Anthony List’s 11th annual Campaign for Life gala, joking that voting in the upcoming 2018 midterm elections was not as critical as ballots cast in 2016.
“Your vote in 2018 is every bit as important as your vote in 2016 — although I’m not sure I really believe that,” Trump said.
“I don’t know who the hell wrote that line. But it’s still important,” he quipped.
Trump just stepped all over GOP midterm messaging.

Shortly before Trump walked on stage for the event in Washington, his administration announced plans to proceed with new restrictions on family planning services that allow women to terminate their pregnancies.
Elsewhere in his speech, the president promised to help elect pro-life Republicans so the GOP can continue to control Congress.
