Remember when just two Guatemalan children died after their fathers dragged them 2,000 miles to the U.S. border? Remember when U.S. border agents fired tear gas after a caravan of migrants attempted to overwhelm them and cross illegally into the country?
The news media, previously in shock at the border activity, are suddenly unable to see a single problem with illegal aliens flooding into the country, draining taxpayer resources as our agents try acting as both law enforcement and caretakers for Latin America.
Ahead of President Trump’s prime-time address Tuesday night on immigration, it’s as if the past year of border chaos didn’t happen at all.
On MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Washington Post columnist Karen Tumulty said Tuesday, “We are headed to this extraordinary situation where the president declares a state of emergency, which does not exist, and the law does not really explain what we do if the president manufactures an emergency.”

Hey, Karen, did you read your own paper’s report from Saturday? It said, “Record numbers of migrant families are streaming into the United States, overwhelming border agents and leaving holding cells dangerously overcrowded with children, many of whom are falling sick.”
If this isn’t a crisis, how do the media define the term? The definition is apparently limited to criticizing anything the administration does to deter foreigners from showing up at the door by the thousands and looking for healthcare.
When the administration last year decided it was time to fully enforce immigration law, treating aliens as criminals, the media repeatedly called it a “crisis.”
USA Today called it a “crisis.” So did the Washington Post. So did the liberal Nation magazine.
But now, both Democrats and the media look at the border and say, “What crisis?”
CNN’s John Avalon on Tuesday said the White House claim that there’s an emergency on the border is “unrelated to reality.” Rep. Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., told reporters on Monday, “There is no crisis on the border.”
Two Guatemalan children died in U.S. custody last month, and we were told the fabric of our nation was forever stained. Trump, on the other hand, says there’s a legitimate crisis at the border, which Democrats have no interest in addressing, and, well, there goes grandpa sipping too much cough syrup again.
Media organizations are gearing up their fact-checkers for Trump’s Oval Office address on immigration. But why should anyone believe them when they’re denying something everyone can see with their own eyes?
