Sophia Chua-Rubenfeld received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard and her law degree from Yale, where her mother Amy has served as a professor for the past 18 years. Chua-Rubenfeld was introduced to the world in her mother’s book, Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother, which lauds strict parenting in the mold of Chinese Confucianism.
Given her resume, it shows.
At Harvard, she joined ROTC and became an undergraduate fellow at the Edmond J. Safra Center for Ethics. Upon graduating law school, she earned an appellate clerkship.
The media is up in arms now that Chua-Rubenfeld is following her prospective boss, then-D.C. Circuit Judge Brett Kavanaugh, to his new post at the Supreme Court. She didn’t win her job through sheer hard work, our woke betters say, but rather through a quid pro quo.
“So much for worshipping meritocracy,” lamented The Cut at New York Magazine. “In July 2018, Chua lauded Kavanaugh’s credentials as an advocate for women in an editorial for the Wall Street Journal ... Eleven months later, here we are.”
“It worked!!!” screamed Splinter into the digital void. “If you’re someone of Chua’s stature, you don’t publish an editorial in a major newspaper thinking you won’t get anything out of it; dynastic politics working in full force would not have it otherwise.”
Here’s how the Hill decided to frame a young woman of color and daughter of an immigrant breaking into a field where just 36% percent of clerks are female.

To recap, Chua-Rubenfeld earned an appellate clerkship before Kavanaugh was ever tapped as President Trump’s Supreme Court pick, her mother then wrote a defense of Kavanaugh because she had a professional relationship with him for decades, and now Kavanaugh wants to effectively rehire Chua-Rubenfeld at his new job.
Yet, somehow, the media thinks it can cajole you into believing that this was a product of corruption.
Like firefighters, they are bravely bringing you the truth come hell or high water.
