Clinton pledges to go to Flint before N.H. primary

DURHAM, N.H. — Hilary Clinton will leave New Hampshire two days before the first-in-the-nation primary to visit Flint, Michigan in order to bring attention to the city’s water crisis.

Clinton, who is behind Sanders by up to twenty points in some polls, is spending relatively little time in the Granite State ahead of the primary. On Thursday she held no campaign event leading up to the Democratic debate and her campaign only has one event scheduled for Monday, the day before the primary.

Heading to Flint two days before the New Hampshire primary is intended to highlight her commitment to the African-American community, a voting bloc that will have great influence in the South Carolina primary and beyond.

Clinton immediately condemned the water crisis from the start as “unconscionable” and “infuriating.” Her campaign also sent top advisers to meet with local officials.

Just Wednesday Clinton and Sanders agreed to participate in an additional Democratic debate in Flint Michigan on March 6. The two candidates squared off Thursday in Durham, New Hampshire.
