Montgomery County is tightening up its take-home car policies, creating more stringent requirements for employees who get to take a taxpayer-funded vehicle home with them.
The changes will help the county keep the number of take-home cars to a minimum, General Services Department Director David Dise said Tuesday. They will tighten rules about the minimum work-related use necessary to justify keeping a vehicle, require a semiannual review and a cost-benefit analysis of each vehicle, and clarify the tax-reporting requirements for employees with the vehicles.
