Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey (D-MA) this week signed a law removing all gestational limits on abortion, aligning her state with nine others and the District of Columbia that allow abortions throughout pregnancy.
Several fallacies exist regarding third-trimester abortion in this country. One is that they don’t happen. The reason that abortion advocates are able to continue to spread this lie is because there are no official statistics on the frequency of very late abortions. The CDC’s annual abortion surveillance report, which the organization has not produced since 2024, meticulously breaks down abortion by weeks, until week 21, when those and later weeks are lumped in together.
