A Chinese national was arrested on Wednesday after being charged with voter fraud for illegal actions taken during the 2024 presidential election.
Yupeng Sun was charged with one count of fraudulent voter registration and one count of fraudulent voting, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Massachusetts. Sun allegedly submitted a “fraudulent voter registration and ballot in the 2024 presidential election in the name of another Chinese national.” Additionally, Sun is accused of filing two phony immigration forms for a married couple who were illegal immigrants from China.

Court documents revealed that Sun allegedly submitted a voter registration form with fraudulent information to the Secretary of the Commonwealth’s website on Oct. 10, 2024, and did so while impersonating another Chinese national who had legal residence and lived in Massachusetts. Later that month, on Oct. 31, Sun once again allegedly impersonated the unnamed Chinese national and sent in an early voting ballot for the 2024 presidential election at the Malden City Hall location in Malden, Massachusetts.
Yet, after allegedly impersonating another to register to vote, and subsequently voting, Sun then allegedly submitted multiple anonymous tips to federal agencies in April and May 2026 reporting the illegal voting activity.
“After registering to vote and voting, Sun allegedly submitted several anonymous tips in April and May 2026 to Homeland Security Investigations and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (“USCIS”) stating that the victim “illegally voted in the 2024 U.S. presidential election” and noting that “[h]e is not a U.S. citizen but a permanent resident,” read a release issued by the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Massachusetts.
“It is further alleged that Sun impersonated the same Chinese national and his Chinese national wife in fraudulent forms submitted to USCIS in April 2024 requesting to abandon their LPR status,” read the release. “When the couple returned from an international trip in June 2024, they were subjected to secondary inspection at Logan Airport in Boston, had their Green Cards confiscated, and were placed into removal proceedings allegedly as a result of Sun’s submission of fraudulent forms.”
ICE INVESTIGATION AIDS IN JAILING OF COLOMBIAN NATIONAL WHO FRAUDULENTLY VOTED IN US ELECTIONS
Sun’s arrest comes after the Trump administration’s crackdown on noncitizens voting in U.S. elections has announced several important revelations. First, an investigation conducted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations and other federal agencies discovered that Carlos Felipe Jaramillo-Grajales, an illegal immigrant from Colombia, fraudulently voted in multiple U.S. presidential elections. Then, President Donald Trump claimed that a review of voter rolls by the Census Bureau revealed that 24,000 votes were found to be cast by noncitizens in the 2020 presidential election.
The recent arrests represent the Trump administration’s continued efforts to protect U.S. elections and ensure voter integrity. Lauren Bis, a White House spokeswoman, reinforced the administration’s commitment to election security in an exclusive statement to the Washington Examiner.
“Our message to aliens who vote in American elections is clear: we will find you, arrest you, and you will face the consequences,” said Bis. “Only Americans should be electing American leaders.”
