Kansas Republicans buck Trump over threat to blacklist Canadian jets

President Donald Trump’s warning to block a Canadian-based aircraft manufacturer from selling in the United States as part of an escalating trade war has set off alarm bells among Republicans in Kansas, where the company has its U.S. headquarters.

Trump made the threat against Bombardier aerospace company Monday as part of a series of provocative Labor Day messages posted to Truth Social. The posts prompted Kansas GOP lawmakers to phone the White House to protest any sort of ban against the business jet producer that employs over 1,400 U.S. workers at its Wichita facility.
