What Obama used the red button in the Oval Office for

Former President Barack Obama used a red button in the Oval Office to order tea, according to Richard Branson’s new book.

“As we stood up to leave I noticed the red buttons on his desk,” Branson wrote in his new autobiography, “Finding My Virginity,” of the Resolute Desk. “Obama saw me looking at them. He said, ‘They used to be there for emergencies, but now I use them for ordering tea for my guests.'”

Branson, the billionaire businessman behind the Virgin Group, has a close, personal relationship with Obama.

Obama and wife Michelle Obama spent 10 days with Branson in the British Virgin Islands in January after they left the White House, including on Branson’s private Necker and Moskito Islands.

It was revealed in April that President Trump uses a similar red button to order Coke from a butler, per the Associated Press.
