Rubio walks back criticism of vegetarians

Marco Rubio poked fun at vegetarians in Wichita, Kansas, on Friday, then quickly retracted his comment after admitting he could use every vote he could get at this point in the campaign.

Rubio was comparing Donald Trump’s propensity for switching positions and parties with his old Florida rival Charlie Crist. “Now [Crist] has become a vegetarian. He just keeps switching,” Rubio said. “And as I was informed this morning, I think it’s illegal, or it’s highly discouraged, to be a vegetarian in Kansas.”

“By the way, this election is so close, I shouldn’t be offending anyone, including vegetarians,” Rubio continued.

“I have nothing against vegetarians,” Rubio stressed.

“I don’t get it,” Rubio said. “But I’m not against it. What the point in life? Nevermind.”
