Former Vice President Dan Quayle showed up on Tuesday afternoon to Trump Tower, where President-elect Trump has been meeting potential Cabinet picks and other visitors.
Republican Party spokesman Sean Spicer confirmed to reporters that the person who went up the elevator with Trump aide Kellyanne Conway was indeed Quayle.
After the meeting, Quayle said he was there to offer his congratulations and well wishes to Trump in person.
“Things are in good hands, he’s moving forward, and he’s going to make America great again,” Quayle told reporters.
The press did not ask any questions of the Indiana Republican when he first arrived at Trump Tower because they did not recognize him, according to a pool report from the journalists in the building’s lobby. A photo tweeted by a Washington Post reporter showed a bystander asking Conway for a selfie as Quayle stood nearby.

Earlier on Tuesday, Quayle had breakfast with Vice President-elect Pence at about 8 a.m.
Quayle served as vice president under President George H.W. Bush from 1989 until 1993. He left public service following his term as vice president.
