WATCH: Sarah Westwood says Biden has ‘lost a lot of credibility’ on economy

The Washington Examiner’s Sarah Westwood said that President Joe Biden “has lost a lot of credibility when it comes to talking about the economy” on Fox Business Wednesday.

“There is no reason for voters to trust what they’re saying right now,” she said. “The Biden Administration has been wrong on basically every major economic question that’s arisen while Biden has been in office.”

“I also think the perception is kind of baked in at this point for voters that Biden is not well equipped to handle the economy and that Democrats are not to be trusted when it comes to, you know, righting the economic ship after COVID because things have gone so badly,” Westwood said. “Even if we were to see, you know, marginal improvement in the economy, which is not at all certain, I don’t know if voters are necessarily going to give Biden credit for that or if the damage has been done in terms of voters’ perceptions of Biden and Democrats.”

A recent poll revealed that 93% of registered voters are either “extremely” or “very” concerned over inflation and rising prices. This comes as economic approval for Biden fell to a record low of 30%, surpassing the low points of both his recent predecessors.

Westwood also offered insight into possible electoral gains for congressional Republicans. “While more Republicans are in cycle this year in the Senate, there are more vulnerable Democrats who are defending their seats,” she told host Neil Cavuto. “You have Maggie Hassan in New Hampshire. You have Mark Kelly in Arizona. Obviously, there is an open seat in Pennsylvania. So there is a lot of opportunities for Republicans to pick off Democrats, more so than Democrats really have to pick off Republicans.”

“Like I said, there’s not really any vulnerable Republicans who are up facing a reelection battle this year,” Westwood said.
