When Karen Augustine decided to move from Kent Island to Baltimore County, she was looking for a “manageable” property with a “community feel.”
“I had an acre and a quarter on the water, so I?d been there, done that,” she said. “It was just me and my daughter, so I didn?t want something too big.”
Her needs were met at Miramar Landing, a 740-home community in Middle River. Augustine moved into a three-bedroom villa-style home earlier this month, and she?s ecstatic with her choice.
The villas essentially are townhomes in which only the one-car garages are connected. The development also features traditional townhomes and single-family homes. Bedrooms range from three to four, bathrooms from 2.5 to 3.5, and square footages from 1,600 to 2,300.
There are 11 different floor plans buyers can choose from. Standard features in the single-family homes include two-car garages, 9-foot ceilings on the main living level, and garden bathrooms with soaking tubs.
Among the options available are hardwood floors, fireplaces and finished basements.
Scott Copinger is the development?s sales manager for Ryland Homes ? and he?s also a resident.
“I bought one of the one-car garage townhomes,” said Copinger, who lives with his 7-year-old daughter Breana. “I loved the location and I thought it was a great community to be a part of.”
Setover 101 acres, Miramar Landing features 22 acres of open space, walking trails, ball fields, and playgrounds. Glenmar Elementary School is located inside the community.
“The two main [reasons] we sell so fast here are the houses are really affordable, and it?s such a convenient location,” Copinger said. “Baltimore is maybe nine miles from here. We are probably two or three miles from White Marsh. We?re close to 95, there?s a MARC train station within a mile and a half of the community. Baltimore County has 175 miles of waterfront; we?re only two miles from the water.”
So Augustine and her daughter, Kristina, will feel right at home. After only a few weeks in their new house, they already do.
“I knew from the beginning I wanted a villa, I loved the look of it,” Karen said. “It?s 2,000 square feet. I feel like I have a single-family home, and that?s fine with me.”
