Fox personality: People need guns to ‘defend yourself and your family’ from illegal immigrants

Fox personality Tomi Lahren claimed that Americans need firearms to “defend” themselves from illegal immigrants during her Friday morning appearance on Fox Business’ Varney and Company.

“What I like about America is that we’re the only country in the world where armed citizens are allowed, just in case the government gets out of line. That’s what makes America unique,” host Stuart Varney lamented.

“Well that’s what Second Amendment activists and people that are for the Second Amendment, Second Amendment rights remind people over and over again. This is your right, this is your right to protect and defend yourself and your family,” Lahren responded. “And all the things the Democrats want to put in place — my goodness, if they want to open our borders, you better be sure that the people in Texas, the people in South Dakota, the people in the middle of this country, we are going to be armed and ready.”

“Who knows who’s coming in? That’s the thing, we don’t know, and we have to be able to protect ourselves,” she continued.

Lahren’s commentary came a day after gun control played a major role in Thursday night’s Democratic presidential debate. Presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke made headlines for saying, “Hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47.”

UPDATE: After presidential candidate Julian Castro tweeted out the clip of Lahren writing, “Disgusting, anti-immigrant rhetoric from @TomiLahren in the wake of El Paso,” she issued an apology on social media.

“Not what I meant & I apologize for the way it came out. I simply mean without a secure border we don’t know who is coming into our nation & those who wish to do us harm will exploit it. I’m NOT advocating for violence against any person, regardless of race or immigration status,” she tweeted.
