HillaryClinton.net redirects to Carly Fiorina’s campaign website

Political science majors of the future will look back at the presidential campaigns of the spring and summer of 2015 and refer to it as the season of “Domaingates.”

HillaryClinton.net launched on Monday, but instead of taking visitors to a site about the former Secretary of State, it redirected them to the campaign website of GOP candidate Carly Fiorina.

Like Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, and Fiorina herself, Clinton failed to purchase her domain name, and her political opponents are now using it against her.

But while this looks like a boon for Fiorina now, her campaign claims that they did not purchase the site, according to MSNBC.

Fiorina did buy ChuckTodd.org and SethMeyers.org before appearing on the two hosts’ television shows in order to prove that anyone is vulnerable to cybersquatting.

Fiorina fell victim to the domain name game when Michael Link, the assistant director of digital strategy for SEIU purchased CarlyFiorina.org. Link posted 30,000 frowning faces, one for every employee she fired during her tenure at Hewlett-Packard. Fiorina markets herself as the tech savvy Republican and the incident was especially embarrassing for her campaign.

Cruz found himself in a similar situation earlier this year when TedCruz.com was purchased to feature the message, “Support President Obama. Immigration Reform Now!”

Paul learned from his fellow presidential candidates, but it came at a high cost. The presidential candidate was recently forced to pay $100,000 to purchase RandPaul.com, which he failed to snap up in preparation for his 2010 Senate election.
