Maryland is expanding the reach of Amber Alerts, which are sent out via a public-private partnership in situations when a child has been abducted. The Maryland Lottery now displays Amber Alerts within 15 minutes of notification on television screens at more than 3,700 locations statewide — including gas stations, convenience stores and restaurants. Soon, the alerts will be displayed on more than 4,200 screens. “This innovative technology will establish a more efficient communication between our citizens and police, intensifying the efforts we can make together to safely locate Maryland’s missing children even sooner,” said Col. Marcus Brown, superintendent of the Maryland State Police.
