Impact player Quarterback Tony Romo was drilled much of the night and dealt with a center who had no clue when to snap in shotgun formation. Yet he played a gutsy game and converted a third-and-21 on the game-winning drive.
Under the radar
Dallas running back Felix Jones entered the game averaging less than three yards a carry. But he finished with 115 yards on 14 carries. He helped ignite Dallas’ offense with a 40-yard gain on a field goal drive in the fourth quarter.
Did you notice?
Redskins defensive end Stephen Bowen played well vs. his former team for much of the game, taking advantage of a weak interior with several pressures. He made a crucial stop on first-and-goal from the 2-yard line late in the game.
From the sidelines
It’s hard to fathom how Cowboys coach Jason Garrett manufactured much offense with that offensive line. But they ran the ball enough to help, and the defense did a good job moving linebacker DeMarcus Ware all over the field.
Washington stayed aggressive and will live and die doing that. The Redskins couldn’t control the clock late, and defensive coordinator Jim Haslett’s all-out blitz on third-and-21 resulted in a 30-yard gain on the game-winning drive.
