The remnants of Tropical Storm Ernesto couldn?t wash out all of the collegiate action this weekend, as the No. 1 Maryland men?s soccer team toppled fellow top-10 program UCLA Saturday.
Sopping wet conditions didn?t bog down the defending national champion Terps (3-0) in a 4-1 victory before a big crowd at Ludwig Field.
Junior Stephen King, sophomore Graham Zusi, and freshmen Jason Herrick and Jeremy Hall scored for Maryland. King had two assists, as well, and was named the Atlantic Coast Conference player of the week for his performance.
“It was a total team effort, which we needed to do because that UCLA team is clearly one of the most talented teams in the country,” Maryland coach Sasho Cirovski said in a team release.
The Terps visit Clemson (4-0) Friday at 7 p.m.
NAVY
Good luck scoring on the Navy women?s soccer squad. The Mids (4-0) have not given up a goal yet, including a 5-0 win over Jacksonville Sunday. Senior Meggie Curran scored twice and added an assist in the win.
