Pro-Kasich super PAC airs Trump attack ads in NH

A super PAC supporting John Kasich’s presidential campaign on Monday began airing its first televised ad in New Hampshire that directly hits Donald Trump.

The ad, titled “Hippo-Crit,” features a split-screen image of Trump and a hippopotamus accompanied by the tagline, “One bellows. One bellows malarkey.”

“Donald Trump repeatedly says one thing, does another,” a narrator can be heard saying in the ad. “The hypocrite says he’s champion of American workers, but had his line of Trump ties made in China. Some of the laborers on his palatial D.C. hotel? Illegal immigrants. … America needs proven, honorable leadership. John Kasich.”

New Day for America, the super political action committee behind the advertisement, has repeatedly attacked Trump and accused him of being an unserious candidate. Past ads from the super PAC have showcased Trump’s controversial statements about women, African-Americans, and how Trump would date his own daughter if the father-daughter pair had no familial relationship.

While “Hippo-Crit” is the first ad to directly target Trump in New Hampshire, the group recently launched a “Put a ‘Steak’ in Trump” digital campaign, which features video of the reality television star pitching “Trump Steaks.” The super PAC’s newest ad also comes as Kasich’s presidential campaign unveiled a new online ad dubbed “Trump vs. the Constitution,” which includes children reading from the Constitution before closing with, “I don’t think Mr. Trump gets the whole Constitution thing.”

Trump and Kasich will square off at Tuesday’s presidential debate in Las Vegas. The primetime event will provide Trump, who ranks second in the Washington Examiner‘s newest GOP presidential power rankings, an opportunity to square off with Kasich head-to-head on CNN.
