‘Most rewarding job on Earth’: Ivanka Trump goes to bat for working mothers

Ivanka Trump is stepping up her campaign for working mothers.

In a personal address to the White House Summit to Support America’s Working Families, President Trump’s job czar pressed for passage of child care support and paid family leave to help new mothers.

“No mother should ever have to choose between staying at home with her infant and being fired from her job,” said Trump, mother of three.

Her call for federal help comes on the heels of Congress and the president approving paid family leave for federal workers.

“As the country’s largest employer, the United States Government is now leading by example,” she said.

Trump opened with a comment on what it’s like to be a working mother.

“Very importantly, I want to express my admiration to every parent here today — would you please stand to be recognized? Thank you all! As a mother of three young children, I know you have the hardest, most important, and most rewarding job on Earth,” she said.

“I also appreciate that you, like me, are probably far more exhausted on a Monday morning than on a Friday night!” she added.
