President Trump asked a union boss if he would leave his job for one similar to the gig Hunter Biden held on the board of a Ukrainian oil and gas company Thursday during a press conference at the White House.
“Would you like the Hunter Biden job?” Trump, turning from the podium, asked.
One union representative smiled and shook his head “no.”
“I know so, but I’m not going to tell him that,” Trump joked.
Republicans have pointed to corruption allegations against Hunter Biden, the son of 2020 presidential hopeful Joe Biden, in an attempt to undermine his candidacy.
Hunter Biden sat on the board of a corrupt oil and gas company in Ukraine while his father was vice president, a position that earned him hundreds of thousands of dollars a month. He has since said he regrets taking the job.
Trump asked the Ukrainian President to investigate these corruption allegations during a July 25 phone call and held up military aide during what Democrats allege to be a quid pro quo for a political favor.
The call triggered an intelligence community whistleblower report, six days of congressional hearings about U.S.-Ukrainian relations, and led to Trump’s impeachment in the U.S. House.
Trump, dismissing the impeachment, has repeatedly called Biden “corrupt” and has labeled him “Quid Pro Joe.”
