Travis Scott to refund Astroworld attendees and Drake gets sued

Rap star Travis Scott will cover the cost of the funerals for the eight individuals who died Friday at his Astroworld Festival and offer “further aid” for those injured.

Scott, born Jacques Webster, joined forces with therapy provider BetterHelp to offer therapy and mental health services to attendees, according to a statement from the provider.

“These are the first of many steps Travis plans on taking as a part of his personal vow to assist those affected throughout their grieving and recovery process,” the release noted.

The 30-year-old award-winning rapper also announced that he would refund the festival’s attendees and not perform at an upcoming Las Vegas show, according to a report citing sources close to Scott.

At least 25 people were hospitalized after witnesses reported that concertgoers were trampled at the Nov. 5 festival.

Eight people between the ages of 14 and 27 died, police said.

As of Monday night, at least 18 lawsuits were filed in the Harris County District Court.

Scott is named as a defendant in most of the cases, while others named NRG Stadium, event organizer Live Nation Entertainment, and Grammy award-winning artist Drake.

“The injuries have had a serious effect on the Plaintiff’s health and well-being,” one suit alleged. “Some of the effects are permanent and will abide with the Plaintiff for a long time into the future, if not for his entire life.”

The case in which Drake is named a defendant claimed the actor and rapper incited the attendees until “the crowd became out of control.”

“My heart is broken for the families and friends of those who lost their lives and for anyone who is suffering. I will continue to pray for all of them, and will be of service in any way I can,” Drake posted on Instagram.
