Throughout his long career, Radio Hall of Famer Rush Limbaugh never talked about his faith, keeping his “relationship” with God secret until just four months before he died of cancer at 70.
Now, exactly two years later, his brother David Limbaugh has revealed his belief that over Rush’s last months, God spoke through the radio host to encourage his vast audience to do good.

“I think God and his sovereignty used Rush to show his own power and his own love. And Rush had such influence, and people were praying for him so much, that had to be encouraging to people,” said David Limbaugh, the author of several bestselling books, many exploring the life and influence of Jesus.
In an interview with author and newsman Joel Rosenberg for his All Israel News channel, Limbaugh said that his brother didn’t know the “language” of prayer but that he spoke like a preacher on his final shows.
“That came from the Holy Spirit, in my opinion,” said David Limbaugh after Rosenberg read aloud Rush Limbaugh’s description of his “personal relationship with Jesus Christ.”
David Limbaugh said that Rush expanded on those themes near his death. But, he added, that was not because Rush thought death was near, but because “God knew” and Rush was speaking his words.

“What I’m telling you — this is exciting, this gives me goosebumps — I’m telling you intellectually, intellectually, he didn’t know. He still had hope. So guess who did not? God. Guess who was talking through him? God, Jesus Christ was telling him to give this final monologue through me, through you, from me, so people can look back on this and be inspired by what you said,” said David Limbaugh.
He added that Rush told him just before his death, “The doctor tells me this isn’t it. I’m fine, I mean ‘fine,’ a relative term. So, in other words, it’s not imminent. Just remember, my death is not imminent. In other words, he didn’t think he was going to die in a week, month. If he thought about it, six months, but he was dead two weeks later, after he said it wasn’t. My point only being that God spoke the rest because God knew when he was going and that he wouldn’t have another Christmas. And I just think that’s moving and just very cool to me.”
