Bobby Jindal: ‘I’m not interested in going back to the Congress’

He may be governor now, but Gov. Bobby Jindal has his sights set on the White House.

If the Louisiana Republican stays in politics after his term ends in two years, it will be to make a bid for president, he told WBRZ Tuesday.

Jindal said he and his wife Supriya are praying about the decision to run in 2016.

“If I were to stay in politics, it would involve in 2016 running for president,” the Republican said. “There’s no other elected office I would seek. I’m not interested in going back to the Congress or the Senate or any other elected position.”

Jindal has been increasing his national standing among conservatives, stopping in to help campaigns in New Hampshire and Iowa. He has also made numerous high-profile speeches.

A RealClearPolitics average of polls has Jindal last in an 11-deep field of potential GOP candidates.
