Virginia Senate candidate Libby Garvey is urging local officials to take whatever legal action is necessary to delay the opening of the Mark Center in Alexandria, saying “it is not too late to avoid the abyss that lies ahead.”
Garvey, who’s running for the senate in the 30th District, urged Alexandria, Arlington and Fairfax counties to seek court orders to delay the opening of the Mark Center. She also recommended the Obama administration began an investigation into the process of choosing the Mark Center as the site for new Pentagon office space.
“Recently discovered safety concerns and the findings of the inspector general at the Department of Defense clearly indicate that the opening of the BRAC facility at Mark Center should, at the very least, be delayed,” Garvey said in a statement.
