WATCH: Megyn Kelly dedicates segment to commemorate late sister

Reporter Megyn Kelly offered a tribute to her late sister Suzanne Crossley during her show Thursday.

Kelly detailed Crossley’s influence on her life, sharing personal stories about her 58-year-old sister who died Oct. 21 of a heart attack. She had had health issues leading up to her death, and according to Kelly, spent the last year in and out of the hospital after being most recently released last month.

“I was with her at the end, holding her hand. She wouldn’t have liked my spidery fingers on her. I did it anyway,” Kelly said. “I told her it was okay for her to rest, to be with our dad and our nana who she loved so much. Then, she was gone.”

Kelly also noted that their own father had also died of a heart attack at the age of 45 when Kelly was 15 and Crossley was 22. They were together the night of his death.

Crossley also previously had an opioid addiction, according to Kelly, who claimed she had her late sister’s permission to share her story. The two had plans to discuss her story at length in a future episode of the show.

“Life threw many challenges at her — she got swept up in the opioid crisis thanks to a doctor who told her a minor painkiller was not addictive,” Kelly said. “Later, she got clean and sober and rebuilt her life.”

The former Fox News anchor reminded her audience: “Life is too short. This whole thing is fleeting. Don’t wait until tomorrow to reach out to your loved ones. Make time for the visits. You never know if it could be the last.”

Crossley is survived by her mother, Megyn Kelly, her brother Peter Kelly, brother Paul Kirwan, as well as her children, Christopher Crossley, Brian Crossley, and Emily Crossley. She also had a grandson, Brom Crossley. Kelly vowed to take care of Crossley’s children during the segment.
