While a lot of celebrities and athletes have taken the results of the 2016 election pretty hard, former NFL tight end Shannon Sharpe seems to be doing pretty well.
The former Denver Bronco star and current host of FS1’s Undisputed says he respects the decision of the American people to elect Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton.

“The American people spoke. They wanted President Trump to lead this country,” Sharpe said to TMZ. “Now, whatever you think of him, his misogynistic, his racist ways … but more people thought he was better than Sec. Clinton and so I have no problem with that.”
Sharpe went on to say that he trusts the democratic process and doesn’t believe it’s rigged in the ways many politicians, including Trump, claim. He also said that he would give President-elect Trump the same respect as outgoing President Barack Obama.
“I’ll always respect that institution of the presidency and I’ll respect President Trump,” Sharpe explained.
He also said he didn’t feel any sadness over the result.
“The people voted. If they didn’t like what he was saying or like what he stood for, they could’ve not voted for him,” Sharpe said. “But, they said we want this guy to lead us over the next four years, and maybe beyond.”
Sharpe never publicly endorsed a candidate for president.
