Are the Grammys really full of intrigue?

The headline of an AP story on the wire reading “Grammys promise plenty of intigue — and music.” Now I don’t really doubt the music part (it is a music awards show afterall), but what sort of intrigue could the show possibly hold?

I’ll admit, I don’t watch the Grammys, or at least I haven’t in quite some time. I know who is nominated and who is performing — and I suppose that is where the interest lies. Most music critics are predicting Adele to walk away from the evening with many awards. It won’t be like last year when Arcade Fire was the surprise belle of the ball. One drag on the awards aspect of the show is that only 10 actual prizes are given out during the telecast. The rest are given out in an earlier untelevised event.

The fun part of the Grammys is always in the performances. The aforementioned Adele will be taking the stage, her first performance since undergoing throat surgery last year. The Beach Boys will reunite on stage for the first time in years. The Foo Fighters are performing with David Guetta. Bruce Springsteen and Paul McCartney are teaming up. Those are some pretty interesting draws.

For those who are interested, the Grammys air Sunday on CBS at 8 p.m. EST.
