WikiLeaks asked for President Trump’s tax returns after a top Trump adviser said Sunday that he would not be releasing them.
“Trump Counselor Kellyanne Conway stated today that Trump will not release his tax returns,” WikiLeaks tweeted, providing a link to submit them so WikiLeaks could publish the documents.

In a subsequent tweet, WikiLeaks called the “breach of promise” unjustified.
“Trump’s breach of promise over the release of his tax returns is even more gratuitous than Clinton concealing her Goldman Sachs transcripts.”

Conway told ABC that Trump would not be releasing his tax returns after a White House petition calling for the president to release his tax returns received more than 100,000 signatures — the number it needs to receive a response from the administration, at least under the Obama White House.
Over the course of the campaign, Trump blamed an IRS audit as reason that he could not release his tax returns. He had said he would release them once the audit was complete.
Trump praised WikiLeaks through the presidential campaign as the organization published hacked emails from the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton’s campaign Chairman John Podesta.
