Position review » Wide receivers
Anthony Armstrong
Armstrong was the hot receiver in the spring, and that often doesn’t mean much come summer. However, Armstrong has continued his solid play. On a team with receiving depth, he wouldn’t have a shot. But the Redskins lack that sort of depth, so Armstrong has a chance. Considering his background, that’s quite surprising. Armstrong was undrafted out of Texas A&M in 2006, played a year in the Intense Football League and another in the Arena League before finally landing on Miami’s practice squad in 2008 and then Washington’s in ’09. On his TD catch Friday vs. Buffalo, Armstrong was decisive off the line, having recognized by the coverage that he was the hot receiver. And he’s paying attention to those around him in meetings. “You’re dumb if you don’t listen,” he said.

Roydell Williams
Williams dropped on the depth chart, falling to the fourth team, and it’ll be hard for him to work his way back up. Williams has looked good at times, particularly early in camp, but he hasn’t been nearly as noticeable the past week. He lacks the quickness and speed of other receivers, who have shown more consistency.
Bobby Wade
Wade has caught 244 career passes. If the Redskins want a speed demon, they’ll have to look elsewhere. If they want a possession receiver, he’ll get a long look. “Many of my opportunities have come from third downs, moving the sticks,” he said. “I bring some experience. I’m a guy who’s done it.”
