‘Too personal’: Laura Ingraham cuts off Fox panel shouting match over Matt Gaetz wearing gas mask

Fox News host Laura Ingraham cut off a panel on her show after Democratic strategist Chris Hahn accused Rep. Matt Gaetz of pulling a stunt by wearing a gas mask on the House floor during the coronavirus crisis.

The Thursday night segment started with the trio discussing the Wisconsin primary, which Gov. Tony Evers attempted to postpone unsuccessfully. “Chris Hahn, if a Republican governor pulled that I know you wouldn’t be in favor of it,” Ingraham said.

“No, Laura. Mike DeWine, the Republican governor of Ohio, did exactly that, and he was right to do it,” Hahn said. “But the Republicans wanted as few people as possible in that election so they could win,” he added about Wisconsin.

Gaetz interjected and claimed it was Democrats who were attempting to use voter suppression. “No, that’s what James Carville was doing when he was saying the people are going to die if they show up and vote. That was voter suppression coming directly from him — it wasn’t Republicans saying, ‘Don’t vote.’ It was one of your people,” the Florida Republican said.

Hahn then brought up Gaetz’s gas mask, which he wore on the House floor in early March during a vote on more funding to fight the spread of the coronavirus in the United States.

“Buddy, you shouldn’t be talking about people dying, because people in your district saw you making fun of this and took this less seriously,” the Democratic strategist said.

“What are you talking about?” Gaetz replied before Hahn shouted, “You should be resigning from Congress, sir.”

Gaetz shot back that Hahn did not “have the intellectual ability to have an actual debate.”

Ingraham cut her guests off, saying the discussion was “getting too personal.” Gaetz and Hahn were moved off the screen and could no longer be heard as Ingraham moved on with her show.
