Jenna Bush Hager returns to work after grandfather’s death: ‘We’ll miss him, but he’s in a better place’

Jenna Bush Hager returned to work Monday at the “Today” show for the first time after the death of her grandfather, former President George H.W. Bush.

The late president died Nov. 30 in Texas at the age of 94.

“I’m good,” Bush Hager told her colleagues. “We’ll miss him, but he’s in a better place.”

Bush Hager, who is the daughter of former President George W. Bush, said she hopes everyone is as lucky as her family to be able to have a member as celebrated as her grandfather.

“We laughed and we had a lot of fun. We told stories,” she said about the family’s gatherings over the past week-plus.

Bush Hager said Bush 41 biographer Jon Meacham told her family that he read the former president the eulogy he gave at his funeral before he died.

“My grandpa was like, ‘Meacham … that’s a lot about me,’” she said, laughing. “I hope he would have liked it. He probably would have thought the focus was too much on him.”
