California Democrats are trying to ease the laws against people who knowingly expose their sexual partners to HIV/AIDS without telling them. Rapper Eric Lynn Wright, better known as Lil Eazy-E, did not take the news well.
Wright, who has been an HIV/AIDS activist since his father Eazy-E famously died from the disease back in 1995, said to TMZ on Tuesday that lawmakers were totally misguided for pushing the legislation.
“For you to just be out here laying around with people unprotected and not having a consequence to not letting them know that you’re not safe to have sex,” Wright said. “You have a vendetta female want to get back at a group of individuals knowing she’s infected.”
“Most definitely (it’s a felony),” he continued. “It’s like letting a dude walk around with a loaded pistol or a girl walking around with a hidden weapon.”
Sen. Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) believes that removing the law will help end the stigma around HIV and push for more people to get tested and confess their status.
Activist like Wright and California Republicans aren’t so sure.
