President Obama and the vain, unthinking, don’t give a hoot, very cool day

President Obama rolled out of his plane Tuesday, latte in hand, sunglasses in place, saluting the Marines like he was the coolest dude to ever lay foot in New York City.

The White House was thoughtful enough to release video on Instagram of the smooth arrival.

The president traveled to New York City to first speak at the United Nations Climate Change Summit before attending and addressing the Clinton Global Initiative.

Once at the CGI event, he acted as if he and Hillary Clinton were the best of friends, calling her appointment to secretary of State one of his “best decisions” as president, despite the fact that she has recently ripped his foreign policy to shreds.

“Hillary put in a lot of miles during her tenure as secretary of State,” Obama gushed, risking a compliment of her appearance. “She has the post-administration glow right now. She looks much more rested.”

Obama also addressed Bill Clinton like one of his best bros.

“I was just discussing with President Clinton that if Chelsea begins delivery while I’m speaking, she has my motorcade and will be able to navigate traffic,” Obama laughed. “Because actually, it’s pretty smooth for me during the week.  I don’t know what the problem is. Everybody hypes the traffic, but I haven’t noticed.”

Yes, in a truly “I don’t give a hoot” moment, he took the opportunity to brag about his motorcade. Mind you, this is the same president who allowed his motorcade to prevent a pregnant woman in labor from getting to a hospital for upwards of 30 minutes.

Obama revealed a bit of insecurity beneath his cool exterior when he complained of people leaving after actor Matt Damon’s speech and not sticking around for his own.

“Always wonderful to follow Matt Damon,” he quipped. “I saw people trickling out after he was done. These are the hardcore policy people who decided to stay for me.”

One can imagine the president swaggering off stage, latte in hand, sunglasses on.
