Trump: Healthcare reform bill could come ‘maybe next week’

President Trump thinks a healthcare reform bill could come “maybe next week.”

He made the comment during a pre-recorded Fox News interview Friday evening, arguing “They’re really coming together. ”

Trump’s confident claim comes just one day after the House Republican leadership announced they would not be voting on the American Health Care Act, citing a lack of votes to pass it.

It put an end to a last-ditch effort to move a deal that could get done within Trump’s first 100 days in office.

Trump heaped praise on the conservative Freedom Caucus, which this week expressed support for a deal that allows states opt out of certain Obamacare regulations.

Trump said he has “confidence” in caucus leaders Mark Meadows, R-N.C., and Jim Jordan, R-Ohio.

He also complimented House Speaker Paul Ryan, who is under “tremendous” pressure, and said he has “great confidence” in centrist Republicans, even though they are the ones who are hesitant to support the Obamacare repeal-and-replace plan in its current form.

Trump also declared Obamacare “dead.”

“The Democrats know it,” he said.
