Ivanka Trump fires back at New York Times report on her finances: ‘Harassment’ motivated by ‘politics’ and ‘rage’

Ivanka Trump, adviser and daughter to President Trump, responded to a report that authorities are investigating her finances by calling it “harassment” motivated by “politics” and “rage.”

“This is harassment pure and simple,” the president’s oldest daughter tweeted Thursday. “This ‘inquiry’ by NYC democrats is 100% motivated by politics, publicity and rage. They know very well that there’s nothing here and that there was no tax benefit whatsoever. These politicians are simply ruthless.”

She then linked to a New York Times article from 2018 with the headline “N.Y.’s New Attorney General Is Targeting Trump. Will Judges See a ‘Political Vendetta?’”

The president’s finances have been under investigation since 2019 by both a civil investigation led by New York Attorney General Letitia James and an investigation led by Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr.

Those investigations now include consulting fees that were used as deductions to lower the president’s taxable income, and some of those fees were allegedly sent to Ivanka Trump, according to the New York Times.

The president’s taxes have been a focus of his political enemies since his entrance into presidential politics, and he has vehemently denied wrongdoing on multiple occasions, tweeting in September, “The Fake News Media, just like Election time 2016, is bringing up my Taxes & all sorts of other nonsense with illegally obtained information & only bad intent.”
