Camping is dangerous for Mrs. Bush

Does having Secret Service protection make one less edgy — or more? You might have wondered if you were listening to first lady Laura Bush address the National Park Foundation’s “ExpeditionAmerica!” Gala at Chelsea Piers in New York on Wednesday night.

“Maybe you remember your first camping trip in a national park — awakening to chirping birds and the light of a new day, or awakening to the crash of thunder and a torrential downpour and it flattens your tent,” said Mrs. Bush. “You might remember being startled when a tree fell right next to your cabin — interrupting a cozy bridge game on a rainy night.  And you probably don’t remember this, but I remember watching the Secret Service sprint towards the crash site in great alarm.”

After all, if a tree falls in the forest, and the Secret Service doesn’t respond, did it make a noise?
