Trump, Clinton neck-and-neck in Ohio and Florida

GOP nominee Donald Trump is neck-and-neck with Democratic rival Hillary Clinton in the battleground states of Ohio and Florida just days before Election Day, according to polling data released Sunday by CBS News.

Trump is ahead in Ohio, where 18 electoral votes are at stake, by 1 point (46 percent to 45 percent).

Meanwhile Florida’s 29 electoral votes are up for grabs as Trump and Clinton tied at 45 percent.

The outcome of voting in Ohio and Florida are critical to Trump, who trails Clinton by a slim margin in the latest national polls, and needs these two states to swing the map in his favor.

In accordance with a national trend in polls released Sunday, Clinton is up among early voters in Florida, bolstered by a strong showing of Hispanics casting ballots.

Among independent voters, Trump is winning by double digits in both states. He possesses a strong advantage in Ohio (51 percent to 32 percent), and a slightly weaker one in Florida (47 percent to 34 percent).

The CBS News 2016 Battleground Tracker poll of 2,377 likely voters was conducted via the Internet between Nov. 2 and Nov. 4 among registered voters in Ohio and Florida. The Ohio poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.1 percentage points and the Florida poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.6 points.
