The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia will host a faith-based town hall meeting Thursday to encourage victims and witnesses to come forward with information about crimes.

U.S. Attorney Ronald Machen Jr., clergy leaders and police officials will be part of a panel, and participants can voice their concerns. A woman who lost family members to violence will talk about her experience with the justice system.

The event is from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday, at the Friendship Baptist Church, 900 Delaware Avenue SW.

The town hall meetings are a partnership between the U.S. Attorney’s Office and District religious leaders to encourage people to become more involved in the criminal justice system, including as witnesses and jurors, to make their neighborhoods safer.
