A woman was killed by a Red Line train Friday morning.
Catherine Anne Hier-Majumder, 31, a District resident, intentionally stepped in front of a Glenmont bound train at the Bethesda station at 9:10 a.m., Metro spokeswoman Candace Smith said.
The three-hour investigation, which shut down the Bethesda station, caused significant delays. Trains shared one track between the Medical Center and Friendship Heights stations during the investigation. Shuttle buses moved passengers between the two stations.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue responded to the initial call and helped to clear the Metro station, said Pete Piringer, a spokesman for the county’s fire department.
