If there is any truth to Iran’s supreme leader’s latest prediction, Israel has something to worry about.
Iran’s Ayatollah Ali Khamenei published remarks on his personal website and on his Twitter account that Israel will not exist in 25 years. He also ruled out any new negotiations with the “Satan,” otherwise known as the United States.
“After nuclear negotiations, the Zionist regime said that they will not be worried about Iran in the next 25 years,” Khamenei wrote. “I am telling you, first, you will not be around in 25 years’ time, and God willing, there will be no Zionist regime in 25 years. Second, during this period, the spirit of fighting, heroism and jihad will keep you worried every moment.”
Khamenei also reminded Iranians that they mustn’t forget the U.S. is “Satan” and that there will be no more negotiations with the country.
“Some want to show this Satan as an angel, but the Iranian nation has pushed this Satan out. We should not allow it to sneak back in through the window,” he wrote.
This is not the first time Khamenei has made similar comments about negotiating with the U.S.
“Due to some specific reasons we came to an agreement with them over the nuclear issue. There should be no more of this, as for America further negotiations are a way of imposing new demands,” he said last week.
President Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry, who was a key part of the negotiations, are working to sell the Iran nuclear deal to the American public. The deal between Iran, the U.S. and five other world powers was reached in July and gives Iran sanctions relief in exchange for curbing its nuclear ambitions.
