Rep. Cory Mills (R-FL) endorsed Donald Trump on Monday, becoming the fourth House Republican from Florida to support the former president’s third run for the White House.
Mills alluded to the indictment and arrest of Trump in a statement announcing his support, calling on Republicans to rally around the former president as Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg prosecutes him on charges of falsifying business records. Republicans have generally denounced Bragg’s case as politically motivated.

“I think that what’s happening in New York is a very unifying event,” said Mills, a freshman lawmaker backed by Trump in 2022. “We need to stop the infighting and come together and unify. And I think right now the person that we need to be unifying behind is President Trump.”
House lawmakers are facing pressure to take sides in the 2024 presidential primary because the GOP’s top two contenders are expected to hail from Florida. None of the 22 Republicans in the state’s delegation have endorsed Trump’s chief rival, Gov. Ron DeSantis, so far, but more will reportedly back Trump in the coming weeks.
Reps. Kat Cammack, Vern Buchanan, Brian Mast, and Greg Steube will soon announce their support, according to Time magazine.
Mills’s support comes on the heels of a surprise endorsement by Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) on Thursday. Donalds, a second-term congressman, is backing Trump despite his close relationship with DeSantis.

Two other Florida House Republicans have endorsed Trump — Reps. Anna Paulina Luna and Matt Gaetz — while he’s also picked up support from Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), the No. 3 Republican in the House, and GOP firebrand Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA).
DeSantis, who has not yet announced a run for the White House, has received preemptive endorsements from two House Republicans: Reps. Chip Roy (R-TX) and Thomas Massie (R-KY).
