Ivanka Trump remembers Stan Lee: ‘Superheroes never die’

First daughter and White House senior adviser Ivanka Trump paused on Monday to honor the memory of Stan Lee, the legendary Marvel Comics co-creator who died at the age of 95.

“Thank you Stan Lee for unleashing the imagination and fueling the dreams of multiple generations of children,” Trump tweeted Monday. “Superheroes never die – and neither will your legacy of creative genius! RIP.”

Lee is responsible for bringing superheroes like Spider-Man to life in the pages of Marvel’s comic books and, eventually, on the small and big screen, in collaboration with a string of artists, most famously Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko. He is best known for introducing flawed characters and serious subject matters to the comic industry.

Lee was taken by ambulance from his home in Los Angeles’ Hollywood Hills to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Monday morning, where he died, his daughter J.C. told TMZ. Stan Lee’s death was also confirmed by her attorney, Kirk Schenck. The pioneering writer, editor, and publisher had been plagued with health issues during the final years of his life, including a bout of pneumonia in February.

“J.C. Lee and all of Stan Lee’s friends and colleagues want to thank all of his fans and well-wishers for their kind words and condolences,” a family statement read, according to the Hollywood Reporter. “Stan was an icon in his field. His fans loved him and his desire to interact with them. He loved his fans and treated them with the same respect and love they gave him.”

Stan Lee is survived by daughter J.C. and younger brother Larry Lieber. His wife of 69 years, Joan, died in 2017.
