Newsmakers: Jane Horton, Gold Star widow

Jane Horton is a Gold Star widow and military families advocate who previously worked with the Department of Defense and Afghan Embassy in Washington, D.C. Her late husband, Spc. Christopher Horton, was a skilled sniper and sharpshooter who, in her words, was the first and only person she had ever met who loved America with his whole heart.

She joined Washington Examiner Newsmaker Series host Elisha Krauss this week to discuss what her fellow Americans can do during Memorial Day weekend to honor the almost one million men and women who sacrificed their lives for their freedom.

Mrs. Horton shared with the audience who her husband was and why he joined and paid the ultimate sacrifice in Paktia, Afghanistan in September, 2011.
