Lady Gaga peeves PETA

Sure, Lady Gaga performed at the Verizon Center Tuesday night, but on the day of the show the Gaga-flavored chatter was focused on her meat-covered cover of Vogue Hommes Japan. The pop star posed for the September issue of the men’s magazine wearing what looks to be a string bikini made of raw steak.

And, if anyone would find that offensive, it would be animal rights organization PETA.

“Oh, Lady Gaga’s job is to do outlandish things, and this certainly qualifies as outlandish because meat is something you want to avoid putting on or in your body,” PETA’s President Ingrid Newkirk said in a statement sent to Yeas & Nays. In the past, the Virginia-based group has applauded the singer for favoring vegan hot dogs.

In other Gaga news, the Washington concert played host to a fundraiser for 86-year-old Sen. Frank Lautenberg, D-N.J., who is a big Gaga fan. The cost to attend was $2,500 a person for PACs and $2,400 for individuals. Attendees could view the pop star’s performance from a private suite.
