Trooper guilty of double-dipping

A Maryland state trooper was convicted of double-dipping while moonlighting as a security guard while on the clock. Andrew Mohan was convicted Thursday of two counts of felony theft and five counts of misconduct in office following a trial in Prince George’s County. Prosecutors said Mohan, who was assigned to the Forestville barrack, stole about $3,200 and improperly accessed protected information for reasons other than his police job.

Riders injured in Metrobus crash

Four Metrobus riders received minor injuries when their bus and a truck collided in downtown Washington. The crash occurred at 1:27 p.m. Thursday as the truck hit the bus ahead of it as they were both turning left from 15th Street onto I Street in Northwest, according to Metro. The bus driver was tested for drug and alcohol use and placed on administrative leave while the crash is investigated.

Girl fends off stranger in Chevy Chase

A 15-year-old girl was touched inappropriately by a stranger while walking her dogs in Chevy Chase, police said. A man approached the girl at 44th Street and Elm Street about 7:20 p.m. Wednesday and asked for directions. After helping the man, he touched her in a sexual manner. The girl punched him in his chest and screamed, and the man fled in a dark compact car parked in the Leland Community Center. The man was described as a white male in his 20s, 6 feet tall, 210 pounds with a bald head and beard. He was wearing a black zippered sweat jacket and bluejeans.
